READY FOR DELIVERY

I designed and made my Sew Many Hearts for Giving t-shirts for when we go to events or have gatherings. 

I used Cricut Design Studio and my subscription I have to them (a must have for a crafter)

I then cut it out on red heat transfer iron on vinyl.

I kept putting this project off thinking it would be hard or I would mess up. It was very easy

For the front of the shirt I just wanted a simple heart with names. I added a little scroll work to give it an elegant look. 

The T-Shirts will be for sale to our volunteers or any of our supporters

The cost for one is $16.00 each.

OUR VERY FIRST DELIVERY

Yesterday was our very first round of deliveries for our handmade items that myself and my volunteers made. I was so overjoyed at the warm welcoming we received from Jenn Hogan at Northern Maine Generals Mercy nursing home. Seen above is Crystal Parent one of my volunteers (left) and Myself (right) holding a basket full of crochet hats for their residence. 

Here is Crystal handing off the basket of goodies. We asked Jenn if there was a need for anything at all just let us know. She smiled and stated "yes" I already have something in mind. We were very excited and will  be getting to work on her request. 

What a blessing to put our talents to helping the lord and his children!

My Sister Dawn is smiling down knowing our dream is coming true. 

FIRST ROUND OF DONATIONS

 

This week was our very first round of donations as my new Chapter for Crochet for Cancer called "Sew Many Hearts for Giving"

 

We delivered to four local hospitals in Northern Maine from the Central to Northern Aroostook area.

 

The one above was delivered to TAMAC in Presque Isle, and as you can see my her bright smile they received them with warm hearts.

 

Our next visit was to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent. One of the Oncology nurses came out to receive the basket full of goodies.

We also made a delivery to Northern Maine General in Eagle Lake. Again a great warm welcoming from Jenn as seen in the photo below.

 

She was so excited to share the hats with their residents.

 

She even had a special request for us to make some adult bibs. We will be working on fulfilling that order soon.

 

We also delivered to Cary Medical Center later in the week.

 

Each facility were so appreciative of their basket of hat donations and it truly warmed their hearts.

 

Myself and my volunteers are always working very hard to continue to reach out to our communities in hopes to place a smile on someone's face. We are also hoping to warm their hearts in the processes.

 

I cant thank my volunteers enough for all their hard work and dedication.

FIRST CROCHET GATHERING

Today was our first gathering. I laid everything out to show how we need to package our donated hats. 

I shared my own patterns and had some literature on our chapter. I had some hats on display so the group of ladies could see how nice these patterns will be. 

Each hat is packaged in a ziplock bag with a Scripture Card inside. 

I placed some Scripture cards in a small basket on the table for them to be able to take to place in their own creations for donation.

I made sure we had plenty of yarn around the living room for everyone. 

I cant thank these wonderful ladies enough for donating their time and materials for this great cause.

OUR FIRST DONATIONS

I have formed a chapter for "Crochet for Cancer" here in Northern Maine to be a distribution point for chemo caps and other handmade items for my local community. 

I will be having group gatherings and appointing others as members for this group called "Sew Many Hearts for Giving"

Below is a hat I designed just for this special group. It has been shared on "Crochet for Cancer" for some time now. 

This is by far my most popular used crochet hat pattern that is shared and used on the net. I adapted the pattern slightly so that the scallop edge will fan out at the bottom.

CROCHET PREEMIE HATS

Every year I try and make something to give as a charitable contribution to locate charities. This year I am doing the little newborn crochet hats. I have two styles , one for a boy and one for a girl. I chose two easy patterns I found on the web and are listed below. My goal is to make 25 of each for the local hospital.

This one is a shell style hat for a little girl.

The pattern is from "Bubnut" and can be found HERE

The little boy (or even a girl) style I chose was from "Living the Craft Life" and can be found HERE.

RAG QUILTS

These wonderful rag quilts have been made to donate to project Linus. Myself and some church ladies gathered at my home one afternoon and were able to sew together at least one rag quilt each. I then was able to trim and wash them all over the Christmas break. We have a drop off location here in Northern Maine that distributes them to the correct chapter.

I created a cute little poem & tag that gets attached to each rag quilts that is tied together with a matching ribbon.

I designed a new sew on label that is sewn in each bottom corner of each rag quilt.

This was created by first making my design in word and then printing it onto iron on transfer paper. It is then ironed on to twill tape. They make the perfect labels.

Each label has the verse Colossains 3:17

MAKE A QUILT

There are so many great charities to be a part of for making quilts or Rag quilts. My favorite is by far the rag quilts as they are very simple to make. Below are several with the directions for you to also make them and some listed charities you can send them along too.

My goal is to reach out to several charities in donating these rag quilts for individuals that need the comfort of their own special quilt in their travels to and from the hospital or when they have to stay at the hospital for treatments or for individuals that just need a warm blanket to comfort them in their times of need and keep them comfy and cozy.

The John Deere rag quilt was made for a special little boy from Make-A-Wish foundation. The rag quilt was made using a 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 square sewing a 1/2 seam. Once you sew all the blocks together you will then trim all the edges about 1/4" apart on all raw edges.

I finsish all my quilts by washing them in Baby purex and tying them off with a coordinating ribbon and poem I wrote below.

QUILT TOPS

My first finished quilt top I will be sending to BERNINA along with others I am making. 

We all love making those quilt tops then get intimidated on the finishing. Yes the sandwiching and quilting. 

For those of you who love to quilt and have made many tops then this charity is perfect for you. 

BERNINA will take all top quilts and finish them off into beautiful finished quilts to donate to charities.
